The Summer Blues

Left to right: China Glaze For Audrey, Sally Hansen Blue Me Away, Sally Hansen Pacific Blue

Hello there! Today I want to show you my favorite blue summer nail polishes! The ones I am showing you are all cream finishes. If I were to show you glitters as well, I would have included Revlon's Blue Mosaic and Sinful Color's Nail Junkie. But this post is all about the blue creams. Please excuse the above picture, I painted my nails quickly and didn't even bother to clean them when I took the picture. Fail whale.

The first nail polish is China Glaze's For Audrey. This is a classic color that I'm sure everyone and the mother has seen. I love how bright and fun this color is. In my pictures, it appears to be much more muted and dusty than it actually is. If you are looking for an alternative polish, Wet N Wild's I Need A Refresh-mint nail polish is said to be an exact dupe. Color Club's New Bohemian from their 2011 Back To Boho collection is also a pretty similar color. This was about $6 at Sally's Beauty Supply. I used a base coat, 2 coats of For Audrey, and a fast dry top coat.

The next summer blue I have to share with you (I couldn't resist, I apologize for the lame rhyme....) is Sally Hansen's Blue Me Away. This is a very bright sky blue that is like no other polish I own. Granted, I don't own that many nail polishes, but still. This is such a pretty color for summer. I must warn you that this will stain your nails and fingers. Prepare for smurf fingers. Even when I used a base coat, there was ample staining. Because of the staining, I shy away from using this polish that often. But it truly is pretty! I'd say that it is much brighter in person. The photos I've taken don't do any of these polishes justice. This was about $2 or $3 at Walgreens. A heads up, Walgreens has a buy 2 get 1 free sale on Sally Hansen polishes for the month of July!!!!! I used a basecoat, 2 coats of Blue Me Away, and a fast dry top coat.

Lastly, here is my all time FAVORITE summer nail polish.....Sally Hansen's Pacific Blue. I'm not going to lie, I straight up hated this nail polish the first time I wore it. I thought it just looked so weird on me. But now this is my go-to nail polish this summer! It is a pretty cornflower blue that is great for fingers or toes. Really, all of these polishes would look great on fingers or toes. This didn't stain my nails at all! It applies like butter and dries at a decent pace. This is my staple summer nail polish shade! I swear the pictures don't do this justice. At only about $2, you can't go wrong picking this gem up! I used a base coat, 2 coats of Pacific Blue, and a fast dry top coat.

I hope you enjoyed this post! What are your favorite summer nail polishes? Of course I love corals and hot pinks for the summer. But I've really been digging bright blues! :)

Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in Coral Reef

Hello there! Today I have a quick post about Sally Hansen's Xtreme Wear nail color in "Coral Reef". This is such a pretty color, but it isn't very coral to me. When I think coral, I think of more of an orangey pink. This is more of a warm hot pink. However, it is super pretty! It applied very smoothly. I have done two coats and no top coat!

Sally Hansen "Golden-I" Nail Polish

Hello there! This is going to be a quick post showing you Sally Hansen's Xtreme Wear "Golden-I" nail polish. It is a pretty basic metallic gold. I did two coats, and it applied very smoothly. If you want to see another gold nail polish, Orly's Rage is a beautiful rose gold nail polish that I have posted about right here.

Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in "Golden-I"
Around $2.99 at most drugstores

Some people might see this and "Rage" and think they are the same thing, but they clearly aren't! Big difference, but I think it is worth it to have both of them. Hope you enjoyed this post!

Have a lovely day!

Hair & Nail Haul

Long time, no post! Today, I'm just going to share a few things I picked up today at Sally's and Walgreens. I basically just got some stuff for my hair and my nails. I swear, I have a nail polish problem. I have plenty of colors, but then I see different ones and just have to buy them!

At Sally's I picked up some hair combs that are meant to be used in the shower, or on wet hair. Both came in one pack for about $3. I think these will be helpful when distributing conditioner in my hair.

I also picked up this adorable butterfly bow hair clip. It was on clearance for $1.99. Bow are HUGE right now, so I couldn't resist!

I don't really know how else to use butterfly clips other than to put them around a ponytail or under a bun. Here is the clip on a top knot. Super cute!

Then at Walgreens I picked up 4 nail polishes. On a side note, my Walgreens had Wet n Wild items that are usually $1.99 on sale for .99 cents!! I'm pretty positive it is a month-long promotion, so stock up on the mega-last polishes while you can!!

I picked up 2 Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear polishes at 2 for $4. I got Blue Me Away and Golden-i.

Blue Me Away, Golden-i

Then I picked up 2 Sinful Colors polishes in Hazard and Pinky Glitter. I've had my eye on Pink Glitter for a while, so I finally got it. These were marked as .99 cents, but rang up at $1.99....but I got them anyways!

Hope you enjoyed seeing some of the things I picked up. Expect to see some swatches....eventually! =)

NOTD: Polka Dot Nails

Hello there!

Today, I decided to have some fun with my nails. I don't really do much nail art, so I thought I'd do something incredibly easy: polka dots! I just used toothpicks, and dropped some polish onto tin foil to dip the toothpicks into. I don't really like the color choices, and there are too many dots. lol. But it's something cute and easy to do!

Here ya go!
*LOTS OF PICTURES BELOW!*

Wet N Wild "Dreamy Poppy"

Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear "Lacey Lilac"

Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear "Pacific Blue"

Super easy and fun to experiment with different colors and shapes!

A Christmas Mani: Rudolph & Candy Cane Nails

Hello, lovelies! I'm very excited to share my Christmas manicure with you! I'm usually very bad at nail art. I don't have steady hands, I get impatient with the drying time, and when I mess up, I just quit. But I managed to do these cute nails the first time! I was inspired by CutePolish on youtube. She did a Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer nail tutorial and a candy cane tutorial. I decided to do my own rendition of her designs! I think they turned out super cute! I took so many pictures of them because they are just too cute. Click on the images to enlarge, and if you want to know how I did this, check out CutePolish's youtube channel! I'm bad at explaining things...LOL
(Please excuse my icky cuticles and the messy polish on the sides of my nails...I forgot to clean them up before photographing!)

Here are the products I used to create these cute nails:

Sally Hansen Hard As Nails in Mocha
Wet N Wild Wild Shine in Red Red and Hallucinate
LA Colors Top/Base coat and Art Deco pens in Black and White

A closer look at Hallucinate

On the rest of my nails, I did red tips w/ glitter.

Rudolph!

Candy Cane!

This look can be done on shorter nails, like mine. But I think it'd be much easier on longer nails. Just do whatever works for you!

I hope you enjoyed the pictures! Have a very merry Christmas!!
=)
