The Summer Blues

Left to right: China Glaze For Audrey, Sally Hansen Blue Me Away, Sally Hansen Pacific Blue

Hello there! Today I want to show you my favorite blue summer nail polishes! The ones I am showing you are all cream finishes. If I were to show you glitters as well, I would have included Revlon's Blue Mosaic and Sinful Color's Nail Junkie. But this post is all about the blue creams. Please excuse the above picture, I painted my nails quickly and didn't even bother to clean them when I took the picture. Fail whale.

The first nail polish is China Glaze's For Audrey. This is a classic color that I'm sure everyone and the mother has seen. I love how bright and fun this color is. In my pictures, it appears to be much more muted and dusty than it actually is. If you are looking for an alternative polish, Wet N Wild's I Need A Refresh-mint nail polish is said to be an exact dupe. Color Club's New Bohemian from their 2011 Back To Boho collection is also a pretty similar color. This was about $6 at Sally's Beauty Supply. I used a base coat, 2 coats of For Audrey, and a fast dry top coat.

The next summer blue I have to share with you (I couldn't resist, I apologize for the lame rhyme....) is Sally Hansen's Blue Me Away. This is a very bright sky blue that is like no other polish I own. Granted, I don't own that many nail polishes, but still. This is such a pretty color for summer. I must warn you that this will stain your nails and fingers. Prepare for smurf fingers. Even when I used a base coat, there was ample staining. Because of the staining, I shy away from using this polish that often. But it truly is pretty! I'd say that it is much brighter in person. The photos I've taken don't do any of these polishes justice. This was about $2 or $3 at Walgreens. A heads up, Walgreens has a buy 2 get 1 free sale on Sally Hansen polishes for the month of July!!!!! I used a basecoat, 2 coats of Blue Me Away, and a fast dry top coat.

Lastly, here is my all time FAVORITE summer nail polish.....Sally Hansen's Pacific Blue. I'm not going to lie, I straight up hated this nail polish the first time I wore it. I thought it just looked so weird on me. But now this is my go-to nail polish this summer! It is a pretty cornflower blue that is great for fingers or toes. Really, all of these polishes would look great on fingers or toes. This didn't stain my nails at all! It applies like butter and dries at a decent pace. This is my staple summer nail polish shade! I swear the pictures don't do this justice. At only about $2, you can't go wrong picking this gem up! I used a base coat, 2 coats of Pacific Blue, and a fast dry top coat.

I hope you enjoyed this post! What are your favorite summer nail polishes? Of course I love corals and hot pinks for the summer. But I've really been digging bright blues! :)

NOTD: Summer Neon Tips Manicure!

Hello there!

I have another quick nail of the day featuring China Glaze's Flip Flop Fantasy. I did a post on this polish right here. This polish is an extremely bright neon pink. It is so gorgeous & perfect for a tan in the summer. The thing to note about this polish is that it dries matte, as it is a neon. If you like the matte appearance, skip the top coat. I must have a shiny finish, so I apply a top coat when I use this polish.

For my NOTD, I just used strips of tape to create my tips (I'd recommend purchasing the notebook paper reinforces, the circle stickers, to do a french tip. I just discovered this idea on Pinterest! lol). Here is how it all turned out! It is kind of messy, and definitely not perfect. I did each hand in under 10 minutes.

For this, I did a base coat on the tips, 2 coats of Flip Flop Fantasy, and a top coat all over the nail. Hope you enjoyed this manicure! :)

China Glaze For Audrey & Sinful Colors Nail Junkie Nail Art

Hello there! I have a few pictures of some nail art I did using China Glaze's For Audrey and Sinful Colors' Nail Junkie. It isn't anything special. I just used For Audrey as a base color, and used Nail Junkie to create glitter tips.

I just free-handed the tips, and you can probably tell from the pictures. I thought the two colors looked gorgeous together! Next I want to try a glitter gradient. Those are very pretty & seem rather simple to do! Hope you enjoyed this post!

NOTD: Polka Dot Nails

Hello there!

Today, I decided to have some fun with my nails. I don't really do much nail art, so I thought I'd do something incredibly easy: polka dots! I just used toothpicks, and dropped some polish onto tin foil to dip the toothpicks into. I don't really like the color choices, and there are too many dots. lol. But it's something cute and easy to do!

Here ya go!

Quick NOTD: China Glaze Flip Flop Fantasy

Long time, no post!

I just wanted to share a quick NOTD with you guys. I was in Sally's a few weeks ago and saw that China Glaze had a rip off $1 coupon, so I took the opportunity to buy a pretty summer color, Flip Flop Fantasy.

This is one BRIGHT color! It is a bright, neon mango pink. I couldn't even capture the true color of this polish. In the pictures, it's slightly more peachy than it actually is.

One thing to note about this polish is that it dries very quickly to a matte finish. I personally prefer shiny nails, and just applied a top coat for super shine.

Again, this is not how the polish really looks in person, it's much more of a bight pink. I can't describe colors well. But it is so pretty, and as soon as my feet are nice and tan, I'm sure this will look great with some cute flip flops or sandals.

NOTD: China Glaze Strawberry Fields

Today I have a beautiful summer perfect nail polish to show you! I present to you(though I'm sure you've seen it before!) China Glaze's Strawberry Fields!

China Glaze Strawberry Fields is $5.99 at Sally Beauty Supply!

This polish applies like a dream! I love the application of China Glaze polishes, but I only own 2, so I'm not sure if application is consistent with this brand or not. But I'm sure it is.

This is a bright pink, almost raspberry-ish. The name definitely fits this polish well! I hope that you can see the pretty gold shimmer in this polish. It really helps to warm up this pretty color.

This image is blurry, but I think you can get a better look at the pretty gold shimmer in this.

This is one of my favorite pink nail polishes. I love it on my fingers & my toes! So pretty!

I hope you get a chance to pick this beauty up. It isn't the most amazing polish ever, but it sure is pretty to me!
 Have a lovely day!

Easter NOTD: China Glaze For Audrey

2 coats For Audrey, fluorescent light, indoors
Easter is this Sunday!!! So I thought I'd do the perfect pastel manicure for the occasion: China Glaze's For Audrey! It is a beautiful pale aqua blue, or the classic Tiffany's Blue. This is one of two China Glaze polishes that I own, and I really love it. It is swatched and blogged about all over, so I figured I'd add to the mix!
When I look at this polish on my nails, I think about the wintermint Tic Tacs. I used to love those!!!

2 coats For Audrey, natural sunlight
The application of this polish was wonderful, almost felt like it applied itself! You just have to really be careful to let this dry between coats, or else it will bubble up(like on my right middle finger! i was a little impatient to get this done!)
purchased at Sally Beauty Supply, 2 for $10....usually $5.99 i think!

It's pretty difficult to capture the true hue of this nail polish. But let me tell you, it is certainly a polish you need to have in your arsenal. :)

Have a lovely Easter weekend! :]
